Biography

Amy Fabry is a singer-songwriter-pianist who grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. The daughter of a doctor and an artist, Amy grew up strongly influenced by polar opposites: a wildly creative, artist mother and a highly rational, scientifically-minded father. An emotional and sometimes hyper-sensitive child, Amy developed an obsession with music very early in her life. As a young girl, Amy would dance for hours in the basement to her parents' prized jazz album collection. Her earliest musical memories are of long afternoons spent singing along to 70's radio and her big brother's K-Tel records. She began playing piano on her own at age 5 which subsequently led to 11 years of formal classical piano training starting at age 7. At the age of 10, she added saxophone and songwriting to her musical endeavors. Perhaps as a result of being raised by a mother who preferred to "think outside the box", Amy became increasingly fascinated by the freedom of improvisation and the mysteries of the creative process. Writing songs became a comforting and natural extension of herself.

After obtaining degrees in Marketing and French at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Amy moved to France and completed a Masters in International Business at the University of Toulon. She later returned to Minnesota and worked as a buyer in the Music Industry. Since that time, Amy has rededicated herself to writing and performing music. She released her well-received first album, a jazzy piano pop album entitled Cultivated Pearl, in 2002. Amy is currently finishing up her sophomore album to be released sometime in early 2008.
