History

After the breakup of Federal Weights and Measures, Todd Holdman, Joshua Hill Lemon and Tony Thomas found themselves without a band. Peter Boss later went on to form National High Horse and Holdman, Lemon and Thomas recruited drummer Nick Holz to form Anchorhead.

In the summer of 2001, the four piece recorded Love and the Color Blue with Tom Herbers at Third Ear Recording. The album was released in 2002 on Machine Shop Records (an Anchorhead imprint).

By 2003, pedal steel guitar player Jeff Waldeland was added to the line-up. 2004 saw the release of Disaster on SMA Records. Disaster was recorded with Rich Mattson of Ol Yeller at Flowerpot.

In the summer of 2006, Todd Holdman moved to Fargo. Since then the band has been in semi-retirement. Holdman has reportedly formed a new band called Empire Builder in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Holz, Thomas and Waldeland have formed a new band called Swing, Swang, Swung with former High on Stress member Jon Tranberry.
