History
Underground rockers Basement Apartment rose from the ashes of seldom heard or seen Minneapolis indie band "Pilot Light"[1]. In 1999, Pilot Light released their only full-length "Color Everything"[2] and started their anonymous college chart hopping throughout the country. In 2001, Pilot Light founders Vince Caro and Kristina Caro formed Basement Apartment in Vince's uptown 'garden level' apartment. Armed with a 4-track, an old IBM desktop, mini-amps, an SM58 and little ditties, they struggled through recording their first EP "Interstellar" (Susstones 2002). For their 1st full-length album, they recruited the talents of some of Minneapolis' finest musicians including Janey Winterbauer (Astronaut Wife, Marc & Janey), Ashley Prenzlow (The Mood Swings), Marc Iwanin (Myriad, Medication), Tim Ritter (Astronaut Wife) and Mark Edwards (The Domo Sound, Original Mark Edwards). Transistor! (2004)[3] was released on mpls ltd and was co-produced with the band by long-time collaborator Christian Grooms.
In 2007, along with new members Andy Iwanin (drums) and Steve Finch (bass) and extreme vocal help from Janey, the band released their second full-length "Pine Tree Hill"[4] (mpls ltd). The album also includes a collaboration with mpls ltd label founder DJ Christian Fritz.
