History
CINCINNATI... Mike was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, played guitar in popular Cincinnati bands, drove vintage VW Bugs, and ate tons of Cincinnati Chili. He was a session player out of high school for Ligosa Records in Cincy, which was a famous dance music label at the time. Mike attended the University of Cincinnati and studied music privately with a very well known classical guitar player in Southern Ohio named, Keith Bowers. He also toured the Midwest in a Motown band for 2 years during that time period.
LOS ANGELES...... Mike then moved to Los Angeles and became a roadie/music tech by accident.Bands/artists Mike worked with as a music tech: Jimmy Page, Stone Temple Pilots, Stevie Wonder, Los Lobos, Ozzy Osborne, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Mike also continued to do guitar session work in Los Angeles and studied music business with his manager/ entertainment lawyer at the time, Stuart Weinstein. Bill Mike's Music partner in Los Angeles was fellow Ohioan, Matt Yelton(Soundman/ The Pixies). They auditioned Minnesota drummer, David King (The Bad Plus), and Los Angeles bass player, Angelo Barbera( Doors of the 21st Century), and formed a group called Senator Dig. Senator dig later became known as "Gosh." Michael Murphy from Los Angeles took over on vocals 2 years later. Due to Northridge earthquake in California, Bill Mike & David King moved the band Gosh To Minneapolis, Minnesota and set up camp in the great white north.
MINNEAPOLIS...... Mike co-founded many bands original rock projects in Minneapolis like " Gosh" and " Tugboat." He's toured and recorded for a slew of Minnesota notables including Love Cars, Iffy,Redstart,Haley Bonar,Anthony Cox,Eyedea,Desdamona,DJ ESP,Robert Skoro,Tampered Seals,Saltee,Carnage,Alecia Wiley,Courtney Yasmine,Vicky Emerson,Mayda & Chan Poling.Mike front's his high impact power trio called The Bill Mike Band(w/Steve Goold on drums & Chris Morrissey on bass), curates a teen music series called " Rock For A Cause," does a ton of guitar session work, collaborates with MC Carnage, teaches music workshops, & is always trying to make the planet better one gig at a time!
