History
Hailing from the Midway of St. Paul, Burnsville City Limits formed around 2003-2004. With the demise of the band Plutonium Foil, drummer Morgan Williams and bassist Ryan Sweere continued to play music regularly in hopes of creating a new band. Close friend and all-around music extraordinaire Dan Greenwood soon offered up his witty lyrical creativity and humorous guitar antics and the band officially began. The name "Burnsville City Limits" is both a tongue-in-cheek homage to the legendary PBS music show "Austin City Limits" as well as the phenomena that small town folks (like Dan and I) experienced upon arriving in the metro area when traveling to the Twin Cities from Owatonna. No lie, the Burnsville Shopping Center was the coolest place to shop at for many a year. When Dan's dad would eye the sign on 35W, he would happily announce in a booming paternal voice "Burnsville City Limits!" and Dan and his siblings would all cheer in the car.
The music is loud, layered and mostly original, with touches of everything from hair metal, joke folk, R & B, country, math rock, emo etc. Cynicism is a must and a lack of seriousness or modesty in what happens onstage is preferred.
