History

Composer and pianist Carl Schroeder (b. 1982) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, a graduate of St. Olaf College, writes music for concert band, orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles and piano that is often inspired by American history and current events. As a pianist, he actively performs his original music.

His large ensemble music has been performed by more than 25 concert bands, orchestras and choirs, including the Air Force Band of Mid-America, the Cornell University Symphonic Band, the Minnesota Symphonic Winds and Ukraine's Chamber Choir Kyiv. Major compositions include the orchestral works "Christine's Lullaby" (2001), "The Minnesota Portraits" (2004) and "Birmingham" (2006), the concert band works "Agora" (2003), "The Minnesota Portraits" (2003), "The Willing" (2004), "Christine's Lullaby" (2006), "The Eagle's Island" (2007) and "They Will Long Remember Sherman" (2008), the choral work "Two December Carols" (2005) and the solo piano suite "A Celestial Triptych" (2007).
