History

Caroline Smith moved to Minneapolis at age 18 in the fall of 2006. Her career as a solo artist began with a residency at the 400 Club. The following year, Smith befriended drummer Arlen Peiffer (of Cloud Cult), bassist Jesse Schuster, and multi-instrumentalist David Earl, and recruited them as her backing band, the Good Night Sleeps.

The group released its debut album, Backyard Tent Set, in 2008, and supported it with 7 national tours. A live album of songs performed by Smith and Schuster at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis followed in 2010.

The group's latest album, Little Wind, is slated for release in September of 2011.
