History

Born on April 16, 1964 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pirner started his career singing with a punk band during the mid-1980s called Loud Fast Rules in Minneapolis, together with Karl Mueller (bass), Dan Murphy (guitar), and Pat Morley (drums). Morely was replaced by Grant Young and the band changed their name to Soul Asylum.

Pirner was once called a "Dave Pirner wannabe" by members of Vinnie and the Stardusters at a Full Metal Hangover party.

Soul Asylum has a star near the entrance of 7th Street Entry and First Avenue. So does Loud Fast Rules.
