Check for links
After making a new page, check the "What links here" to see what existing articles are expecting of your new article, and run a wiki search for your topic keywords (including multiple spellings) to see if there are other linking opportunities. This is important, as it keeps information growing within the Minnewiki and makes your articles easy to find.
Minor vs. major edits
A minor edit is just that: a spelling correction, formatting the page, or rearranging small amounts text for grammar or clarity. Deletion of text or adding new information is not a minor change. It is bad form to mark a significant change as a minor one. To note something is a minor edit, check the "This is a minor edit" box above the Save page button.
Use Article Templates
Article templates serve as production guides for Minnewiki. They help structure the information you're providing and assure consistent layout for Minnewiki readers.
There is a template for each of the principal categories of information - People, Groups, and Venues. Please use these templates when creating new articles and as guides when reformatting or expanding existing articles. For more information, see how to use article templates.

Titles and Table of Contents
Your page will need a section title and text. Each section (discography, history, group members) will require a section title.
- Make a title on your page. To do this, you'll use a second-level heading. You can use the A button in the format bar or typing in the following:
== Section Title ==. Do not use a first level heading, or a single =.
- A double return starts a new paragraph, but if you want a single break you can use a little HTML: <br />, or this code: [[newline]]. These will affect how a list appears - use it wisely and try a preview before saving! Make sure you close the code at the end of word or sentence.
- A table of contents will automatically appear if your article has four or more information areas or sections as long as you've given section a Section Title, like this:
== Section Title ==.
Links and URLs
While you're adding or editing pages in Minnewiki, you'll want to link to other pages that have information relating to or supporting the subject you're covering.
When to link
Link to pages that refer to each other. If an artist is documented as performing in a venue, or if a musician is part of a band (such as Paul Westerberg and The Replacements) they should be linked. Check your published page to be sure that you've linked to the right article title, or it will point people to a page that asks a user to create the page. Too many links without context makes a page less informative as it is difficult to read.
Quoting
Use <blockquote> to indent both margins and indicate a quote. This is useful for inserting blocks of quoted text, like so:
"This is a quotation and should be attributed to the person who said it."
Close the quote with </blockquote>
Create lists
- To create a list, start each link with an asterisk *. More asterisks makes things move to the right. For example:
* First thing
** 2nd thing
*** 3rd thing
**** 4th thing - a double return will end a list, and you can start a new one or keep writing.
Will look like this:
- First thing
- 2nd thing
- 3rd thing
- 4th thing - a double return will end a list, and you can start a new one or keep writing.
- 3rd thing
- 2nd thing
To do a numbered list, use one # before each item.
# First thing
# 2nd thing
# 3rd thing
looks like:
- First thing
- 2nd thing
- 3rd thing
Indent
A colon (:) indents a line or paragraph.
- This line has an indent.
A manual newline starts a new paragraph. Simply use the enter key.
Horizontal Line
To make a horizontal line, use the formatting bar or <hr>. This puts a long gray bar across the page, breaking up your text. Use this sparingly, as it should make the page easier to read.
