Emmaline Muchmore
From Minnewiki
Emmaline Muchmore entered the Minnesota music scene with a six-song EP and regular local live shows beginning at the end of 2000. Her entrance prompted one music critic to write, “I instantly fell for her laid back rhythms and rough edge. Muchmore is a bad ass. I want to bear her children. This singer/songwriter strikes deeper into the passion that is music on this six song EP than most artists do in an entire career.” In 2001 came her acclaimed full-length CD Inviolate and she played live locally and regionally to support it into early 2003. With songs for a second CD already in the can or in the works, Emmaline took a break when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter. She finished up the second disc and in November 2005 released Just a Cherry. She performs two-person gigs in more intimate venues and has put together a new live band to play some dates in England in summer of '07.
Before she was “Emmaline Muchmore – Bad Ass” she was, and still is, Heidi Marty. Heidi started playing locally while still in high school with an early incarnation of the 27 Various, headed up by Ed Ackerson.
Heidi returned to local stages in the mid 90s with the all-girl rock band Interstate Judy, which enjoyed some notoriety for a while. In IJ she was the songwriter, guitar player, and sang some lead vocals.
In 2001 Heidi began doing something she thought she’d never do --- play in a cover band. But the people were right and the time was right, so she began her reign as “Violet”, the It-Girl, the Eye Candy, in the high-energy 80s band A Fixx of Seagulls. That was her under the platinum blonde wig at the big summer festivals. AFOS called it quits in 2006.
