Endless Blue formed in Minneapolis in the summer of 2003 after the breakup of the electro-rock band STATE4. STATE4 singer Laura Hillman and guitarist Nick Mitchell very quickly put together the sound of the band, delving into a more downtempo and trip-hop flavor. Adapting old material from their previous project and expanding on many ideas in the works, the duo began playing shows by the fall of 2003 with guitarist Nicho9las.

Through a group of mutual friends Hillman met Amanda Oechsle. After the two spent a night signing jazz classics after a show, Oechsle joined the band, playing her first show with the group in January of 2004. After a number of other shows and a few months of studio work, Endless Blue released its first CD, the self-titled "blue" album.

The band hit the road in the summer of 2004, heading out to play a show Los Angeles and a number of shows on the way back. Along for the tour was Brian Gray, who married Oechsle during a stop in Las Vegas, and who later played bass for several live Endless Blue shows in the fall of 2004. Endless Blue played many shows through the rest of 2004 and was involved in first two TCElectroPunk compilations.

In ealry 2005, Mitchell and Hillman relocated to the Milwaukee, WI area to work for Hillman's family business. Although the four members played together a few more times, Oechsle and Gray left the band soon after the move. Continuing on, Mitchell and Hillman began work on a second album, named Smoke Trough it. Released in the fall of 2005, the album found its way onto KCMP and into the City Pages.

Hillman and Mitchell are currently working on a third album, yet to be titled, after completing the score for the Milwaukee short film Six Bullets.
