History
Originally called Exempt from Death, (name changed for fear of scaring off major labels) Exempt came to the Saint Paul scene via the brain and determination of Dan Tanz, Seth Haydn and Nick Shuminsky.
The trio released Motherland in 1999, amid many shows around town; specifically at Eclipse Records.
They recorded a follow-up the next year in Los Angeles, mysteriously entitled "The Live from Tokyo EP."
Tanz pursued other projects, and currently sings and plays lead guitar in Aqua City Motel. Shuminsky went on to drum for Superhopper and Free Energy.
