History

Gawker Slowdown is the name of Minneapolis singer-songwriter Eric Kalenze's home-recording project. The five full-length releases by Gawker Slowdown (2002's Gawker Slowdown, 2003's will work for love, 2004's asterisk, 2006's mp3-only self defense, and 2008's sturdy branches) center largely around a laid-back folk rock that has drawn comparisons to The Jayhawks, Ron Sexsmith, and Neil Finn, among others. Though mainly a writing and recording outlet, gawker slowdown does occasionally play live club and coffeehouse dates in a one-guy-one-guitar format.
