History

Katy grew up in London, England. She has been writing and singing as long as she can remember. She moved to the US after meeting her future American husband on a train from Amsterdam to Berlin. As lead singer for the group 'The Camdens' Katy played all over the Twin Cities. She was also nominated for a Minnesota Music Award for her song 'Invitation' for Song of the year. During a break to raise two wonderful girls she continued to sing with a fun 50's/60's band 'Fab Tab and the Teds' . Last year Katy picked up a Ukulele and started writing again. Soon after that she met Jim Walsh and started playing with his Hootenanny at the Aster Cafe. This year Katy has performed at venues such as The Aster Cafe, Wild Tymes, Amsterdam Bar, 331 Club and even The Guthrie. She is grateful for the support from friends and fans and excited to share her first solo release "Before I forget".

Description Songs of love, loss and happiness.

PRESS for 'Before I Forget'

"Before I Forget" showcases her willowy siren voice and ukulele-plucked, autumnal back-porch folk songs. Chris Reimenschneider, Star Tribune

"Before I Forget is Vernon’s first solo album, her compositions are fairly sparse, leaving plenty of room for her songbird-like voice and her ever-present ukulele. There is a beauty and hope in Vernon’s voice that ultimately makes the songs feel uplifting. " - Andrea Swennson, Local Current Blog

"Before I Forget is simply lovely; a celebratory, timeless, old-timey romp yes, romp, you heard me), the kind that doesn’t get made anymore, really. If you’re looking for a great record for a sun-dappled fall drive, this is your monster, my friends." Jon Hunt, Le'toile Magazine

"After all, you’d hate to be in the middle of a world-changing conversation, catch one of Katy Vernon’s songs out of the corner of your ear, and find yourself standing there, leaving you wondering what the hell you were talking about a minute ago. " Dwight Hobbes, TC Daily Planet

This debut solo cd from the London-born singer-songwriter, who used to front the local band the Camdens, is a deeply moving set of songs focused on family connections that continue to bring joy and heartache". Dan Israel, Star Tribune
