Mercurial Rage

Unafraid to give voice to the lasciviousness and skullduggery that has produced them, Mercurial Rage is a quicksilver musical experience that delivers delicious tight-pants rock shows. Mercurial Rage is the lovechild of angst and lust, filling the vacuum left by today’s sensationalistic pop music. In the Rage, fans will find this generation’s voicing of inner turmoil, dirty thoughts and bitter questions. This band is a well-cased group of sexy beat masters. Their music lives in a place where experimental sound, classic electronica and originally mixed beats and lyrics meet to dance. A nimbus of keyboard and spare guitar chases around the reckoning of lust and rage the band calls out—and like all good music, conjures art out of life. The velvet vocals are seductive, the deliberate electronica swoons, all in all a modern day siren call to the rocky shores of pleasure. Their songs cling to the darkness and its shadowy lurkers. Listening to the sultry vocals and tempting rhythm Mercurial Rage lays down, it’s plain to see the on-stage Rage love to sin as much as they love to sing about it. JKulju (www.jakekulju.com)

History

Mercurial Rage started playing Minneapolis clubs in the summer of 2005. At first it was a wholly electronic affair; two laptops, a keyboard, and a singer to be exact. They quickly developed their live act to include bass and guitar while maintaining their allegiance to their silicon drummer.

They recorded their first album, a six song EP, with Mykl Westbrooks of Landing Gear producing at BryteSpot Studios in Minneapolis. The Funeral Sessions came out in June, 2007. The song "Devil Girl" was also released in June by mpls ltd as a limited edition 7" 45 rpm vinyl record for their Super Split Singles Club. This song was featured during a story on the BBC's radio program The World, discussing the international nature of the Super Split Singles Club.

Mercurial Rage is currently mixing a new batch of songs, recorded at Flowers, produced and engineered by Ed Ackerson of Polara.
