The Monarques were an indie rock band from Minneapolis.

History

The band that debuted at the 7th Street Entry, opening for Cex and The Postal Service in April 2003.

Grumdahl also played in Selby Tigers and is Dan Murphy's nephew (guitarist for Soul Asylum).

The Monarques were the first band to ever take the stage at the Triple Rock Social Club. They were followed by The Mountain Goats and Lifter Puller.

They also won City Pages Picked to Click in 2003.
