History
'Radio On' is the story of four guys from Fergus Falls, MN that "just wanted to play music and be rich and get attention and self-loathe and pretend." So, in 1996, with those aspirations in mind, Dan Olson and Ryan Carlson began writing music together every night after school. Within weeks, close friend and classmate of Ryan and Dan, Justin Retzlaff also began playing the guitar and writing music. They began playing guitar and writing music together. This continued for several years and resulted in several projects including Phil and the Blanks and The Quick Butlers. Meanwhile, Brady Kreuger was sharpening his skills behind the trap, playing in a band called Normal and sitting in with the High School Band. In 2002, Radio On was formed with Justin on Bass, Dan and Ryan on guitars and vocals, and Galaxy s3 Brady on drums. Influenced mainly by the wit and energy found in late 60's and early 70's rock and roll, Radio On seeks to create an original sound by writing music laced with unique and pleasurable hooks and rhythms. Sometimes compared to some classic rock acts, 'Radio On' takes a contemporary "garage-band" approach to the sounds that shaped the rebellious days of rock. With this kind of influence, it's no surprise that they draw fans of all ages...literally. The band started playing all the venues that Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN had to offer. After the three shows, the band still thirsted for more, and plans were made to relocate to Minneapolis. By 2003, with a fresh demo in hand, 'Radio On' had hit the streets of the Twin Cities, playing their old-hometown flavor to a new crowd of faces. They've hit the stages of the 400 Bar, Uptown Bar, Terminal Bar, Acadia Cafe, the Dinkytowner (in Dinkytown), Star Central, 7th St. Entry and 4th st. Station (formerly the Lab...those were the days, huh.) among others. Now, as the band has released its debut album "Stallion's Final Romance", the band continues it's growing buzz, as drawing crowds seem to triple whenever they return to a venue.
