Biography
Rival's name comes from his competitive attitude. He switched a few things around and changed the style a bit. Even though the full rap alias is "Rival" he goes by "Young Rival Da Don" being that he is the Don of hip hop in his area. When Rival was young he only received support from his aunt, grandparents, and mother. He was a crime free kid. At age 9, gang related activity filled his years until age 11. His father joined the military in 1993 and then never spoke to Rival when he returned, which inspired the line from Life's Problems, "I'm looking my dad in the eyes while he's just lying." His mother forced him to get a job and save money so he could support himself when he's 18 and on his own. Since Rival is not going to college his mother said she will be kicking him out at age 18. Rival has had to deal with a family of alcoholism and suicidal friends. He has lost Two friends to suicide and one to a gang shooting in 1999. But he has also had to deal with school related issues his whole life; he has yet to graduate from High School and is currently behind in credits to graduate with his class of 2009. Rival has also confirmed that he is the biological cousin of fellow rapper RayRay.
Hip-Hop Career
Through life Rival had a hard time getting people to know, and enjoy his music. Through the first year of writing and recording music no one enjoyed his music more than his friends and family. After a year went by his music began to take a turn. More and more people began to enjoy his music. Songs were downloaded, and plays on the myspace page racked up. In early summer 2007, Rival joined the Throwback Crew. Recording with big Minneapolis name, Sunburn, Mazta I, Big J Bird, and Jay Notts. Now we are anticipating the release of his first actual album, "The Rivalry" expected to be released in 2009 sometime. "The Rivalry" dropped and sold circa 50 copies, pretty small but still a success to his crowd. Shows and performances are now a big part of Rivals Career. The Pepfests at school, and now the Prom Fashion Show. Newspapers, Tv, and Radio play is in the VERY near future being that Rival has as of now had about 10 plays on XM radio's Hot 97. and Has been in the school Newspaper, progression is near.
Song Writing
Rival has been doing a lot of work on writing RnB and Hip Hop music to introduce himself to the music world on a writers level. Rival has co-wrote a song with RayRay Titled "Listen". Rival has written 4 RnB songs one of which his manager Derek "Mr. Marquette" Marquette has said will be number one on the radio if it is ever released. "I feel that if I sing the songs people will be more focused on how terrible I am as a singer and not understand and grasp the message" Says Rival while talking about his RnB Song "Baby Boo"
"If you would sing it I swear you'll end up on the radio"' Says Mr. Marquette during a conversation with Rival on the subject.

Side Jobs
Rival has done many side jobs in his three years in the hip hop nation so far. His most noticed is the group he has formed with his cousin RayRay called S.T.A.R.S. which stands for Special Tactics And Rhyme Scheme. He is also responsible for introducing RayRay to the rap world. He has also been doing Rap battles at school with kids who think they wanna rap. Rivalry Freestyles Volume 1, is an album Rival is throwing together in a few weeks that will be free and used for promotional uses only, NO PROFIT, and its to expose Rival to the internet more, and show improvement. Rival has also been making production notes working with rapping cousin, RayRay. "Disses & Freestyles" a new mixtape with Disses, Beefs, and freestyles. Loaded with fun rhymes and banging beats.

Rival is currently signed to the Minneapolis record label known as Throwback Recordings.
