History
STNNNG originally formed as a four piece group in 2003, with Chris Besinger on vocals, Adam Burt and Nate Nelson on guitars, and Jeremy Ward on drums, playing its first show at Big V's Saloon in St. Paul on April 5. They recorded their first demo later that year (with David Storberg, then of Signal To Trust), two songs from which were later released on vinyl as a split 7-inch with The Means in April 2004.
The group recorded its first album, Dignified Sissy, over three days in Chicago in July 2004 with producer Mike Lust. The album was later mastered by Dave Gardner (of Selby Tigers and Die Electric!) and released on CD by Modern Radio in April 2005. The band self-released a vinyl LP version as well. Four months prior to the release of Dignified Sissy, Jesse Kwakenat joined the band on bass, playing his first show with the group in January at the Hexagon Bar in Minneapolis.
Later that year, STNNNG placed first in the 2005 edition of the City Page's annual Picked to Click poll.
In September 2005, the band returned to the studio with Mike Lust to begin recording for their second album. Recording was complete after a second in May 2006, and the album was once again mastered by Dave Gardner. Modern Radio issued the album, Fake Fake on CD and LP in October 2006.
In the Fall of 2009, founding member Jeremy Ward left the group. He was replaced by Ben Ivascu.
STNNNG's third album, entitled The Smoke of My Will, was released on LP + digital download by Modern Radio in October 2010. It was primarily recorded by Neil Weir (of the Chambermaids) at Old Blackberry Way, and mastered by Dave Gardner.
