BIO

Minnesota love child, musician, and artist Sam Keenan has been lurking in the Twin Cities long enough that you just might have heard of him. He’s been self releasing music since before it was cool. His latest Song-A-Day 2011 project delivers more of the quirky pop rock gems that Keenan fans have come to expect. Shockingly prolific, Keenan puts out more than 30 tracks each year, straddling genres but reliably thoughtful, poppy and explorative. He sites influences such as Bjork, XTC, The Pixies, Deerhoof, Micachu and the Shapes, Beck, Ween and Thelonious Monk. As a live performer, he’s rarely boring. You might catch him with one of his traditional rock and roll bands, or with a strange combination of musicians backing him up on anything from orchestral to made-electronic instruments. Keenan is a shamefully bad self-promoter and is often criticized for being hard to keep track of, but if you keep your eyes and ears open you’ll find him. And he won’t disappoint.
