History

Slug, who's real name is Sean Daley, was born in 1973. He is the frontman of the hip-hop group Atmosphere, and widely considered one of the most sucessful underground hip-hop artists. He is the son of a white mother and a half-African American half-Native American father, and was raised by his African American grandfather.

When Atmosphere first formed, he was the DJ for the group, but he took over as emcee when Spawn (now under the name Rek the Heavyweight) left. He went on to make four more albums with producer Ant, the most recent being You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having (out 4 Oct 2005).

In 1995, he started the Rhymesayers Entertainment record label, which has artists such as Eyedea and Abilities, Brother Ali, I Self Divine, P.O.S., Soul Position and other, both local and national, artists signed.

In addition to Atmosphere and the Rhymesayers label, he has a sideproject, Felt, with Murs. Felt, according to the Rhymesayers bio, "is a musical collaboration with the long-term goal of having sex with B-level Hollywood actresses" 1. Felt has put out two albums, one dedicated to Christina Ricci and the second to Lisa Bonet.

Slug is best known for his clever and poetic lyrics, and his dark and self-deprecating attitude. In his lyrics, he often focuses on personal issues, such as emotion, politics, and, as he says, his favorite subject, women.
