History
Formed in 1999 and now in their Sixth successful year, the Sweet Colleens have established themselves as a powerhouse group, insightful enough to reinvent themselves and rise up shining brighter than ever.
Moving from the talent of four to five in 2002, the Colleens have brazened a new sound, both bold and original. They have now become emulated by others in their genre, proving their dedication and pure talent is more than a passing whim.
Reorganized and rejuvenated the Colleens made it back to the recording studio for their second CD effort, released January 2003. Titled "FLOP" the Sweet Colleens are anything but, relinquishing themselves to the change-up with enthusiasm and skillful musicianship. Now, once again the group is making finishing touches on their 3rd release, titled "Half a Mile from Home" Making its debut at [The Cedar Cultural Center] November 5th, 2005.
With the combined talent of the original members Jeremy Greenhouse (fiddle, guitar, mandolin & lead vocals), Dave Willcock (guitar, djembe drum, bodhran, spoons & vocals) and Pete Sandvik(accordion, guitar & vocals) the Colleens have welcomed new energy with David Bade on electric bass and Jeff Gram on drum kit. Launching the band into their new larger than life direction, this new group is tight and polished. A slurry of new material from Greenhouse and Willcock has been arranged to suit the new band, maintaining the energy so much a part of the Colleens reputation and self expectation.
Never arrogant and always smiling, some things remain the same with this group of fun loving performers who share their music with a sense of humility and charm.
On top of their genre which has become difficult to define, the Colleens mix it up with Canadian Roots, Irish traditional, Zydeco, Country and Original material. They do it so well, it's hard not to have a good time listening and watching as they do what they love, making good music.
The Sweet Colleens perform at Kieran's Irish Pub, Keegan's Irish Pub, Kip's Pub, The Dubliner and other Minneapolis/St. Paul venues as well as Festivals & Special Events across the Midwest.
