Talk:The Honeydogs

The Honeydogs are a hard working band. They played all sorts of benefits, campus events at various Twin Cities colleges, and outdoor festivals. As well as regular bar shows and music venue shows. They were famously blowing away listeners with passionate versions of songs from the Here's Luck album.

That disc was in record-company consolidation limbo for years. Local fans could only hear the songs on the occasional radio show, or live. There was no way to get the disc. A rare appearance on Mary Lucia's show caught my ear.

My gf and I tuned in and headed down to the Bryant Lake Bowl. We arrived after the show was over, but we heard the station play the studio version of 'Losing Transmissions' in the car en route. It was a helpless moment, soaking up the song as we heard it.

If I'd been the teen I once was, I'd've recorded it off the radio with my tape deck. But we were lucky enough to find a fellow Honeydogs fan on the net. I obtained a dub of that show from her, on a tape with some Picadors songs and demos.

I shared 'You Don't Know (Like I Know)', their Sam and Dave cover from that show, on the original napster. Then the same song turned up on the band's website for download.

I guess I just wanted to share something about these guys. They keep getting better. 10,000 Years may be a far cry from Everything, I Bet You, but it's also a tour-de-force with thought provoking lyrics, a loose storyline. As a bonus, it's a headphone-album for the ages.
