The Group
The Brutes are a garage-styled art rock band from Minneapolis,Minnesota. Founded by singer/songwriter Gregg Garvey and lead guitarist Don Hanna in 2007, the band's musical style is a moody, yet catchy blend of dynamic 60's garage and the 80's New Romanticism. The band first released a self-titled EP, which notably included the song “This Science Works For Us”. The song was featured in the season one finale of MTV’s “The Jersey Shore”. The EP was followed up by their first full-length album "Wonderous Punch" in the beginning of 2011. Mixed by Chris Dorn (The Beatifics), the album expanded upon their garage-glam formula to incorporate a slightly harder edge. A video was produced for the album's lead-off track "Yourspace", and the album found it's way into the CMJ Top 200 the following spring. A subsequent tour of the east coast will convene in late July, followed by a second in the fall.
