History
Formed in 2003 under the name the Shut-Ins, the band originally consisted of Neil Weir, Martha Weir, and a drum machine. After recording a demo with this lineup, the group added Colin Johnson (of Vampire Hands) on drums and recorded their debut, self-titled album, released on Modern Radio in 2006.
Johnson eventually left the band, and was replaced in live performances by Greg Schaal (Kentucky Gag Order, Sicbay) and later Micky Kahleck (Shotgun Monday, Chibalo). Kahleck and second guitarist Nate Nelson (STNNNG, Cave Deaths, Private Dancer) were on hand for Chambermaids' second recording, the 12" vinyl and digital-download Down In the Berries, also on Modern Radio.
In 2011, the Chambermaids released a digital single, "China Blue," in anticipation of a forthcoming album. Their current drummer is Alex Rose, also of Vampire Hands.
