Background

Herbert Buckingham Khaury (April 12, 1932November 30, 1996), better known by the stage name Tiny Tim, was an American singer, ukulele player, and musical archivist. He is most famous for his rendition of "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" sung in his distinctive high falsetto / vibrato voice. He is generally thought of as a novelty act, though his records display a wide knowledge of American songs.

He first gained prominence in the Greenwich Village folk scene in New York City during the early 1960s. Khaury even played on some of a session called Down in the Basement, part of the larger Basement Tapes with Bob Dylan and The Band. Tiny Tim appeared on several talk shows during this period as well, even going so far as to get married for the first and third time on the Tonight Show.

Though he was born in New York City, Tiny Tim spent his last years before his death with his third wife, Miss Sue in Minneapolis. His funeral was held at the Basilica of St. Mary and his remains are buried in the mausoleum of Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
