History

barcodeblue is a Twin Cities based rock band. With a nod to the music they grew up listening to, they hope to prove that there are still places to explore in expressive, modern rock.

barcodeblue is in some ways a continuation of The $5000 Club a high school project featuring Luke Moravec, Courtney Flynn, Peter Vogel, Matt Derichs and Drew Stevenson. All were students at St. Paul's Cretin-Derham Hall.

After college effectively ended the bands short run (which included one show at the Whole Music Club at the U of M and an outdoor show at the Como Credit Union), Luke and Drew reformed with Linda Johnke and Gina Martino to record four of the old 5kc songs at Integral-Studio in St. Paul.

Linda stayed on as vocals and the band later recruited Peter Kuhlman on bass and Michael Watercott on drums to fill out the lineup and played one show as the $5000 Club. Deciding the lineup and the sound warranted a new name the band settled on Barcode Blue later changing the preferred formating to barcodeblue.

Ben Haensal later replaced Mike on drums and the band played a few shows in the Twin Cites in summer of 2003. After a 2 year hiatus, Ben Haensal, Drew Stevenson and Peter Kuhlman have begun playing around MN as barcodeblue.
