History

Growing out of the spazzy '90s weirdo-punk of Minneapolis trio the Renegades and emerging from the lo-fi solo projects of guitarist Paul Sprangers, Hockey Night were a two-guitar two-drum outfit responsible for the 2002 LP Rad Zapping and its 2005 follow-up Keep Guessin, not to mention countless insanely fun live shows in the Twin Cities. The band split in 2007. Sprangers and Scott Wells, also formerly of Hockey Night, have since relocated to Philadelphia and formed a new band named Free Energy, who recently appeared on 89.3 The Current.
