History
Martin Devaney is a one-time coffee shop crooner whose recordings and live shows are quietly gathering a following in the Twin Cities area. Devaney’s clever lyrics and quirky stage presence have earned him countless Bob Dylan comparisons, along with quite a bit of serious critical acclaim.
When Martin plays by himself, he produces a folk/blues sound with acoustic guitar and harmonica fills. More often than not, however, Martin can be seen playing with a revolving cast of musicians, including: Kevin Hunt on drums, Matt Palin on bass, Josh Peterson on electric guitar, Brian O'Neil on pedal steel, Jake Hyer on violin/mando/backing vocals and many others. At times they sound bluesy, at others, alt-country.
For the last five years Martin has worked hard to develop his songwriting abilities and entrepreneurial skills, funneling his passion for music into the grass-roots label Eclectone Records. Devaney’s label is now home to several local acts, including Dan Israel and Big Ditch Road.
