History

Soul Asylum formed in 1981 as Loud Fast Rules. 1992's Grave Dancer's Union became the group's most popular album. That year, the group performed at Bill Clinton's inaugural on January 20.

Bassist Karl Mueller was diagnosed with cancer in May 2004, and friends in other local bands organized a benefit concert for him at The Quest in October. Featured performers included the Gear Daddies, Paul Westerberg, and Bob Mould. However, Mueller succumbed to his illness on June 17, 2005.
