History

They the Down Low is a Minneapolis based 7 piece band. Founded by songwriter Daniel Schmidt in 2005, the band recorded its debut album in 2006, and released it in 2007 with the title 'Americana Bauxdivine.' The record was released on the Minneapolis-based Pastoral Records label.

I guess there’s more to Minneapolis than bridges falling down. This bunch looks like a bunch of neo hippies, but they are more informed by Velvet Underground even if they are covering David Grisman, Malvina Reynolds and Rodgers and Hammerstein. Smart, young rockers that feel free to mixmaster influences from where ever it suits them into a youthful, joyful noise that seems designed as a defense to long, cold winters.
