History

Nick (born Nicholas Reid Cecconi) began writing songs in 1999 while attending the University of Minnesota Duluth. His roommate had received a guitar for his birthday, at which time Nick monopolized it's use. He describes his first efforts at songwriting as "avoiding having to learn other peoples songs and thereby avoid having to actually learn to play the guitar." Soon he had a collection of six or seven songs with which he would (edit: enhanced interrogation technique) his roommates.

Songwriting began in earnest for Nick in 2003 when he began playing with Justin Yunke. Justin would accompany Nick on percussion or guitar. Soon, with the addition of Demetria Lee playing bass guitar, they began playing under the name Public Static.

Nick had his first solo performance in 2006 at Tillie's Bean coffee house in south Minneapolis. In fall of 2008, he had the material and funds to record "Crazy EP" at Audio Altimeter in Minneapolis. The recordings were engineered by Luke Harper (Capital Sons, White Light Riot). With this release, Nick wanted to showcase work that didn't fit Public Static's sound, but held an important place in his repertoire.

Now, Nick keeps busy with both full band and solo shows, providing a different experience with each format. When asked about future plans, Nick says he plans to keep writing and keep playing for anyone and everyone who will listen.
